Thai beef on rice
Meat
One of our favourites. Easy to make and tasty.
Prep
- Mince the garlic and chiles.
- Thinly slice the onion.
Cooking
- In a wok or large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of oil and add the onion, garlic, chiles and 1 tsp salt.
- When fragrant, add the beef. Cook until the beef is cooked through and starting to brown.
- While the beef is cooking, wash and cook the rice.
- Once the beef has browned, add 1 tbsp of fish sauce, 1 tsp of oyster sauce, and the sugar.
- Add the basil and stock or water, and stir until the basil is wilted. Remove from heat.
Cook the eggs sunnyside up (or over-easy), but best to have a runny yolk.
Serve the rice into bowls, divide the beef on top. Top with the fried egg. Garnish with a lime wedge.
